Treating chronic pain, by definition, rarely involves any type of quick fix. Dr. Rich Hirschinger's mission ,at his practice in Beverly Hills, is to help patients manage their chronic head and neck pain as conservatively as possible. Dr. Hirschinger will only treat a patient if he has a diagnosis, and the recommended treatment will be as conservative as possible. If Dr. Hirschinger is not able to treat your specific type of pain, he will refer you to one of his vast network of colleagues, which include neurologists, neurosurgeons, ENT's, pain psychologists, and many other healthcare practitioners.
Dr. Hirschinger does not believe that patients who suffer from chronic pain in the head and neck need to have their teeth adjusted so he promises to never work on your teeth or, even worse, telling you that you need to have all of your teeth crowned or capped with porcelain crowns, which is common of treatment plans given to patients who see a neuromuscular dentist. Neuromuscular dentistry involves having patient's wear an appliance 24 hours a day for several months, which can change your bite. Dr. Hirschinger and neuromuscular dentists agree that a lot of pain reported by patients is caused my muscles. However, Dr. Hirschinger will treat muscle pain by treating the muscles, but neuromuscular dentists will treat muscle pain by treating the teeth, which makes no sense to Dr. Hirschinger.
